Not everyone will like changing his email address to get rid of spam because many people share their email addresses with their friends, colleagues, subscribers, and customers. They also may have business cards and other material with the email addresses printed on them. Moreover, getting a new email address won’t free you from spam forever. It will work the first time while your email is new. But as far as you will be using it to communicate with your contacts, the spam flow coming to that email address will be growing. So, how to combat spam? Where is the right solution? One of the effective ways to combat spam is using an anti-spam filter. Fortunately, there are a lot of anti-spam tools available on the Internet.

I am using the anti-spam filter is called SpamCombat. For me, it’s a “must-have” tool. I’ve been using it for about 2 years and my statistics show that 80% of emails I receive are deleted by SpamCombat.

The particularity of SpamCombat is that it works at the source i.e. it connects directly to your inbox on the server and manages the emails there. It’s not the same when you are using the filters in your email software, for example Outlook or Thunderbird. The major difference is that SpamCombat deletes spam and junk emails on the email server so that you never have to download them. Using an anti-spam filter in Outlook, for instance, would mean that you have to pull down the messages onto your computer first and then analyze and manage them accordingly. This may pose a threat if some emails contain viruses.

SpamCombat is easy to use. It’ll take just a few minutes to set it up. The downloadable version of SpamCombat will never expire so you have plenty of time to decide if it is working for you. SpamCombat is provided with 6 filters, which detect spam emails with great accuracy and precision. You can customize the filters for your needs. On the company’s user forum there is a topic dedicated to SpamCombat filters: http://www.justlan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=937

The program users gratefully share their filters with others and I found many useful anti-spam filters there. I added some of them to my SpamCombat installation and the amount of spam that was identified increased to 80%. This means that on average, 3 of every 10 emails I receive are legitimate and are allowed through by SpamCombat. The rest are deleted at the server and I don’t have to spend time downloading them. This is a big deal if you are using dialup access to the Internet.

There is a concept of a blacklist and a whitelist. You can “whitelist” and “blacklist” the emails by any field from the message header (not only by the From field where the message sender’s email address is) and by any word or phrase from the message content. SpamCombat will allow all emails through that are on the whitelist, and it will mark for deletion or automatically delete all those that are on the blacklist. Adding or removing someone from the whitelist or blacklist is a very simple point and click exercise.

SpamCombat also allows using wildcards and regular expressions to set legitimate filters up. For example, if you specify all emails coming from your company domain name as being legitimate, then all messages from your colleagues will be allowed through without you having to specify each person. You can achieve this by using a wildcard setting such as “*@youworkdomain.com”. This can also be used to blacklist an entire domain such that all messages are immediately marked for deletion or automatically deleted depending on your settings.

There is also the Bayesian filter, self-learning system based on legitimate and spam emails you receive. I trained the Bayesian filter well and now it identifies my legitimate and spam emails in the proper way.

SpamCombat also has more advanced filters. One of them is known as “DNSBL filter”. There are servers on the internet which list known spam addresses. When you receive a message from one of these addresses, SpamCombat automatically marks it as spam without your filters even being invoked. This is a remarkable filter. It identifies about 10% of spam emails that I get.

Another advanced filter is called Complex Filter. This filter is based on the VBScript. If you are familiar with the VBScript, you can write a script and add it to the Complex Filter. A nice filter is described there: http://www.glocksoft.net/sc/discover-amazingly-powerful-anti-spam-filter/

The software configuration is very flexible. You can choose a deletion mode for spam emails by yourself: you can specify the emails to be deleted automatically without your participation, or you can have the program mark them for deletion but let you preview them just in case. This is important at the beginning until you tailor the program for your mail.

You can also set SpamCombat to move spam emails to the internal program trash or delete them permanently. The emails will be stored in the trash for a number of days depending on your settings. There is also a way to recover an email from the trash and receive it with your regular email client.

SpamCombat is independent software and does not interfere with your email client. It sits in the system tray and does its work thoroughly. On my computer, it checks my inbox every 20 minutes and notifies me that new emails arrived. I then review them and do a cleanout. I have my email client setup to only receive messages when I instruct it to so that SpamCombat has the most opportunity to do its work.

SpamCombat is an indispensable tool in my email arsenal. If spam is a vital problem for you, it could do likewise for you. Download your free copy today and use it for as long as you want to fight spam on your main email account.

There are many ways to fight SPAM. The most widely used methods are Rule Based and Challenge-Response. A quick and concise overview of these two methods follows.

However, for those impatient readers, I’m guilty of this as well, the bottom line is that I am partial to the Challenge-Response method of SPAM prevention and strongly recommend the completely FREE software offered by The Spam Research Center. I have evaluated many different anti-SPAM programs, both free and paid, and I can honestly say that their software will not only stop close to 100% of SPAM, but it will also save you time and frustration.

Rule Based Systems

As the name infers, these methods use “rules” to determine what is and what is not SPAM. They generally look for specific keywords or content in the email. They may also use special algorithms or a distributed “community” approach where SPAM examples are sent in by users (the community) to central servers. The “community” can then use this ever-growing database to detect and block SPAM. However, because the “rule” databases are in a constant state of change in an attempt to keep up with or stay one step ahead of the “spammers”, there is always the chance that valid emails will be mistaken as SPAM. In an attempt to avoid this situation, the emails are usually “tagged” as SPAM by adding a specific keyword to the email header, subject line or some other field. These keywords can then be included in email client (Outlook Express etc.) rules so that the questionable emails can be appropriately routed to special email folders for later inspection or deleted. Unfortunately, an additional burden is then put on the user to monitor “spam” email folders for falsely “tagged” emails. Although many of these Rule Based methods do reduce SPAM, the necessity of updating “rule” databases, the ever present possibility of valid emails being detected as SPAM and the time consuming need to review “spam” folder(s) makes these methods less than desireable.

Challenge-Response Systems

Although there is no perfect solution for eliminating SPAM, Challenge-Response methods have become increasingly popular. These methods are extremely simple and only require you to maintain a “white list” and a “black list”. When an email is received from someone on your “white list”, it is delivered. When an email is received from someone on your “black list”, it is rejected and deleted. When an email is received from someone on neither of your lists, a simple “challenge” reply email is sent to them. When the unknown sender replies appropriately to the “challenge” message, they are added to your “white list” and their original and any future emails are delivered to your INBOX. The reason this method works so effectively is that “spammers” usually do not supply valid return email addresses and, if they do, there is usually a “robot” that sent the SPAM and it will not respond to your “challenge” message.

Summary

Both Rule Based and Challenge-Response methods have their PROS and CONS. However, taking everything into consideration, I feel that the Challenge-Response method is the best to date. With that said, I DO NOT feel that all implementations of this method are equal. Some Challenge-Repsonse software has the same shortcomings as those implementing the Rule Based method – “spam” folders to maintain and false positives.

I have evaluated many anti-SPAM solutions and can honestly say that I feel that Spam Research Center has the best challenge-response anti-SPAM software available today! This software has been thoughtfully designed and thoroughly tested to provide you with close to 100% SPAM protection without false positives. Better yet, the software is completely free!

A common misconception concerning network security is that the enterprise network is at considerable risk from external attackers only. As many security architects know, their networks resemble what is known as “Coconut security”: hard on the outside, soft in the inside. All of the protection and security resources are directed towards the perimeter, keeping the bad guy out by disabling access to any of the network using firewalls and network IDP. However, the soft inside is what the attackers are really after and the security solution is ultimately about getting to the crux of it all i.e. knowing the insider threat source for instantaneous action against security breaches.

The well known case of David Lennon launching an e-mail attack on his former employer, Domestic & General Group hogged headlines in IT publications and illustrates it well. Lennon caused chaos for Domestic & General by generating millions of hoax e-mails. The insurance company’s router and mail server crashed and the cost was in the tens of thousands of pounds.

In fact the insider threat proliferation is touching newer heights. Often criminal gangs infiltrate a company, entering via unsuspecting users.

Cyberoam Identity Based Security Soluion: Revealing the End User Identity

Addressing insider threats requires a combination of incident prevention, detection and response. Since the user is proving to be the weakest link in the security chain today, linking user identity to security is the solution to ensuring high levels of security and to fight against insider threats.

Linking user identity to security is the key to current security, which Cyberoam delivers. Cyberoam is the only UTM that embeds user identity in firewall rule matching criteria, eliminating IP addresses as intermediate components to identify and control the user. This offers instant visibility and proactive controls over security breaches even in dynamic IP environments. User Identity binds the security features: – Firewall-VPN, Anti-virus, Anti-spam, IDP, Content Filtering – to create a single, consolidated Cyberoam security unit enabling the administrator to change security policies dynamically while accounting for user movement – joiner, leaver, rise in hierarchy and more – through easy to configure policies. Ultimately Cyberoam delivers effective security by instant identification and immediate corrective action.

In a poll of 455 IT executives in US SMBs, 42% said their networks were not secure even though 96% and 93% of respondents respectively said they had anti-virus and a firewall installed. 80% said they also used spam filtering. This may indicate that small and medium sized businesses are starting to doubt the effectiveness of traditional perimeter security products in protecting them from other security threats, including data leakage and network breaches.

Conducted by eMediaUSA on behalf of GFI Software, an international developer of network security, content security and messaging software, 39% of respondents to the survey said email viruses are the greatest risk to network security, followed by internet downloads (22%) and hacker attempts (10%). Only 7% considered insider attacks and the threat of portable storage devices – such as USB sticks, CDs, floppies, smartphones, MP3 players, handhelds, iPods, digital cameras – to be the greatest risk.

The survey also reveals that 32% of the US companies surveyed had suffered a breach over the past 12 months mainly due to a virus attack (69%), followed by infected internet downloads (30%) and loss of hardware, such as laptops (24%). Only 2% reported a breach involving some form of fraud or identity threat.

Commenting on the results, Andre Muscat, GFI’s Director of Engineering, said: “Email viruses top the ‘greatest threat to network security’ list and this does not come as a surprise. It is one of the easier attack routes and this is confirmed by those respondents who reported a breach. While companies are aware of, and are focused on, tackling viruses and malware, they appear to be giving sparse attention to other equally dangerous threats such as data theft and leakage from endpoints such as connected USB sticks, iPods and PDAs on the network.”

According to the survey, only 19% of the respondents said they had deployed an endpoint security solution on their network. This indicates that few companies may consider the fact that an employee’s iPod or USB stick can be a threat and used to copy data from the network or else install unauthorized software or upload viruses and malware.

“There are other issues as well. How many companies are aware of vulnerabilities on their network that are not addressed through Microsoft’s regular updates? At the end of the day, it boils down to education – from the top of the organization down to the users – Our survey shows that just under half of the respondents believe security could improve if employees were more aware of security issues, while 25% believe that management should also have a better understanding of security matters,” Mr. Muscat added.

On a daily basis, IT executives are most concerned with downtime (71%) while more than half of the respondents said daily user support was a concern. One in five said compliance was a daily concern; while a mere 3% indicated eDiscovery to be a daily issue.

When it comes to choosing the type of security measure to adopt, just under 90% said they used a software solution with 55% opting for a combination of software, appliances and hosted services.

As with any other year, in 2008 network and systems administrators will have to face challenges which will tax their ability to adequately protect corporate networks. Experience shows that maintaining and improving on security is never easy; hackers, malware creators, spammers, malicious insiders and other, mostly unpredictable, elements all add up to the factors which tend to give these network security professionals many a sleepless night.

Various 2008 threat predictions have already hit headlines. Some mention VOIP and virtualization , others mention malware evolution and Facebook widgets that will be used to distribute malware; However, facts and figures indicate that the challenges faced in 2008 will not stem from technology itself; for in its nature technology is a neutral element that can either be used in a good or in a bad way. The biggest threat for 2008 is the same threat to businesses that has been around for the last 200,000 years – the Human Being himself!. Human beings, their weaknesses, fallacies and inquisition can all be exploited to wreck havoc within organizations.

Human Overconfidence

History shows that we tend to rely too much on the claims which operating system vendors and business software vendors make. New systems sell themselves as being more secure and more fail-safe than their predecessors. While this is undoubtedly true, one must remember that at every release of each operating system and business software throughout the years vendors have all made the same claim, over and over again, year after year. This has never. However. deterred hackers and other malicious individuals from researching and executing attacks against newer systems.

A case in point is Microsoft Windows Vista, which by end 2007, will hit the 10% market share, with a projected 30% adoption rate expected by end 2008. Microsoft Windows Vista does not only equate to a new operating system, it also equates to a new user expierience. While this system is much more secure than its predecessors, its users are still the same as before, and therefore they are the path of least resistance to the average network environment exploit. Through social engineering, security features such as the new user access control can be easily circumvented, duping users in installing software which is insecure or tainted with malware.

Humans’ misplaced trust

Trust should be earned and not automatically afforded. Dangers to business do not only lie outside of the business perimeters; recent history shows that insider attacks to businesses cost as much, if not more, than attacks originating from the outside. Insiders have their own advantages for they have an intimate knowledge of your network and its inner workings. In 2008, an ever increasing proliferation of portable storage and communication devices (iPods, USB drives, USB WiFi cars, etc) will highly facilitate data theft, logic bombs and other forms of sabotage that can throw your business back to the Stone Age. Yet again, while it might be easy to put the blame on such devices it’s not these devices that are at fault; once again, technology is a neutral entity. The main fault here is the use made of such devices – banning them will simply not work because you simply cannot rely on voluntary compliance, supervision is too laborious, the devices can be easily concealed and you’ll just create dissent.

Human lack of knowledge

When it comes to network security, ignorance in neither bliss nor excuse. In 2008, a lack of basic security principles and a lack of knowledge in the trends that malware, spyware, spam and other malware are taking will greatly contribute to the downfall of network security. This most often is due to lack of time or resources to research security principles and trends; an issue that translates into a firefighting approach to network security: reacting to incidents after being hit.

This is, once again, a human issue. Malware does not evolve on its own, in a vacuum. The reason why malware evolves is greed – Hackers and other malicious individuals today create targeted attacks not to create havoc but for financial gain. Targeted exploits that attempt to address the inquisitive human nature to make them click on a tainted link will become more and more commonplace. This makes them much more dangerous than ever before, making the issue of lack of knowledge even more critical. Limiting human inquisitiveness through a blanket ban on access to resources will also backfire since it will create both dissent and boredom, all of which hamper productivity.

Human gullibility

Being gullible does not only make you the butt of jokes but also exposes you to myriad network security threats. In 2008, targeted email spam will continue in its evolution with newer and novel attempts to breach network defenses using social engineering. These will extend beyond email and attempt to, for example, compromise VOIP infrastructures through denial of service attacks, SIP vulnerabilities and Spit (Spam Over Internet Technology) attacks. In 2008, an increase in the number of attacks targeted at specific individuals or businesses is also expected, and it is highly plausible that the perpetrators of such attacks will use social engineering to gain access to confidential information that enables them to gain access to your systems.

As with malware, social engineering attempts at exploiting human gullibility evolve for financial gain. No one will be calling anyone up asking for passwords; more subtle methods such as targeted attacks on social networking sites (myspace, facebook, etc) where users are duped in exchanging personal information for virtual goods empower hackers and other malicious individuals to gain unauthorized access to networks.

Conclusion

In 2008, network and security administrators will have to wear more hats than ever before and employ all sorts of defenses against attacks directed at the human nature – overconfidence, trust, lack of knowledge and gullibility will all be decisive factors in how successful network security will be. More than ever before it will be a question of managing the risks that humans pose to businesses; for even if the risks humans pose are the same risks as before, the motivation behind attacks in 2008 is changing and becoming much more dangerous. The best way to defend infrastructures from potential threats is for administrators to implement methods to:

• Monitor the user’s activity 24 x 7 x 365

• Control access to network resources

• Safeguard all the business information

• Backup all communications to, from and within the business

• Enact technological barriers that permit device use according to a clear and defined policy.

• Train network resource users in both network security and information disclosure policies.

In 2008, systems administrators will have to find the fine balance that suits and encourages the human inquisitive nature – without becoming the dreaded medieval Inquisitors!

If you send out e-mail newsletters regularly and suddenly get an unusually low open rate – you could be unknowingly triggering your reader’s built-in email spam filters. What that means is that before your reader ever sees the email, it ends up in their Junk folder or Trash bin.

How can you make sure that your valid e-mail newsletter doesn’t become a victim in the virtual circular file? By following these three simple steps:

Avoid “trigger words” – Trigger words are words that set off some e-mail program’s built in spam-filters. Unfortunately, spammers have used some valuable words that would ordinarily make your visitors want to open your legitimate message – words like “free” and “money”. You can find a list of some of the most common subject line and body text trigger words at http://www.andreaoneill.com/spamtriggers.html

Avoid spaces between letters or unusual characters – Let’s say you really do have a free offer that will help your readers make money, and you really want to get that across to them. Some people do this by putting spaces or dots in between the letters – such as f r e e or fr.ee. Others substitute numbers for letters, such as m0ney.

Doing this might seem like a cute or innocent way to catch spam filters off-guard – if it were 1997. These days, the filters are more sophisticated and can catch tricky spellings and too many spaces. Instead, consider using different words such as “no cost” or phrase it a different way, such as “costs you nothing”.

Conduct a SpamCheck – SpamCheck is a free service from a company called SiteSell. You simply send your newsletter to them and follow the steps on their web page to see if your email passes the SpamCheck test. You do not need to use the Site Build It services to take advantage of SpamCheck. It’s free and can be found at http://spamcheck.sitesell.com

Alternatively, for just your e-mail address you can download a little software program called XMailWrite which will alert you if any of your words could set off the spam filter. It checks over 900 possible spam triggers, and is a good program to have on hand if you send multiple newsletters out. You can download it free at http://www.xmailwrite.com

If you keep these tips in mind when writing, you should drastically increase your email open rates without winding up in your visitor’s junk mail bins. Good luck!

Greetings Everyone,

This is the most important article I have published since I first entered the nework marketing industry 24 years ago.
Â
There is a very important aspect of the TROY MANAGEMENT LTD concept that I want to make perfectly clear, right in the beginning, before I get into the 4 important P´s: Products, Performance, Payplan, and the rest:

- Your organization is build for you …

- You don´t need to recruit … (only 2 people you need to introduce to TROY and there is no time and no flushing of income).

- Together with the best netwokers in the world TROY has developed a “recruitment-machine” that nobody else on the planet can offer …

TROY Partners are required to personally recruit only TWO new Partners in order to qualify for all twelve income streams (11 of which pay weekly, the 12th pays quarterly.) FOR LIFE! Yes, just recruit two partners, and your recruiting is done, unless you want to earn the huge rewards for recruiting. TROY MANAGEMENT is very generous in thanking those that like to recruit!
Â
Knowing that networkers are fed up with programs that require constant recruiting to continue to earn, or to earn at all, TROY management decided to permanently qualify Partners with just two referrals!

TROY – an innovative new concept, unlike anything out there. I’m sure you’ll see that for yourself as you read through this site. This is a serious opportunity, so please read the entire letter. It is a long letter. I´m sure you won´t regret.

Normally in networking, approx. 3% of the members of a program would earn the huge incomes promised in the ads for the program, while some earned a little and the bulk of the members didn’t earn anything, in fact paying in each month for the priveledge of trying to qualify again. These members lose out because they are unable to recruit more than two, the product sales slow way down, and the program dies. I’ve see this too many times, I’m sure you’ve seen it, experienced it, or know someone that has.
Â
TROY is an innovative new binary matrix concept, which will allow everyone to earn. The SYSTEM will fill both legs of a Partners’ structure with spillover. There won’t be any Balance issues, with one leg growing way out of proportion from the other, coz the SYSTEM and all the top networker on board fills it, while you struggle to fill the other. No holes in your structure, no gaps in your commissions, a nice healthy paycheck each week, happy Partners!
Â
Here are TROY´s products, with a brief explanation:
Â
TROYbid – A low-bid, reverse auction, where the lowest unique bid wins! You will be able to bid on dream cars such as Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s, & Porsche’s, electronics such as home cinema’s, flatscreen tv’s, the best laptops, & some very exciting surprises that the Company will announce from time to time. Something that you have never seen before.

I’m sure you are aware that online auctions are more popular then ever, right now, all across the globe, in all economic classes. One British auction company, that operates only in the U.K., grew an amazing 23.3% last year alone! Imagine what a world-wide auction company as TROY can do!

TROY SpamFree – TROY Management has worked hard and spent a great deal of money to acquire a world-wide patent on their excellent Anti-Spam Software. Yes there are other similar software programs available – this is SPECIAL! I haven’t tested the the product anti-spam product yet because it is not available yet, so I can’t offer an honest evaluation of this product – I’ll leave that to those who do that sort of thing for a living. I can, however reveal that our product is a great marketing tool in two ways – one, you can give it away for free! Everyone likes to get something for nothing! This benefits TROY partners because ads for all our products are circulated with the software, causing people to see it, make purchases, or become Partners themselves, or both. There is great potential for both, & their attention is focused on the TROY concept! Two, you can sell it for……PROFIT! Plus, there’s a compensation plan through TROY for the sale of this product, as well as all the others we have!

TROY SMS – Every networker knows the object is not to chase the customers, rather to have them run to you. This is the difficulty in networking, especially with a new concept, or program. Many people choose to work their family & friends, which is not a good thing! From your very sophisticated TROY-back office, you will be able to send SMS messages to their contact lists, inviting them to participate in offers they can’t refuse. For example- you send an sms offering them a chance to “win” a Ferrari if they visit TROYbid, register, & place bids for free (to begin with). Each SMS offers them FREE BIDS. Think this will bring’em to the auction portal?

This SMS System is exclusive to TROY. It is automatic, & the messages are already written. All you need to do is send them! This system will also send alerts to your cellphone, if you request it, to notify you that an auction is almost over, or that you have won the bid! TROY will generously be giving you many SMS messages (for free) to send out, to help get you off to a flying start! Use them liberally!

Troy Card Services – Partners receive a VISA CARD, onto which they can load their commissions each week. You will use the card as you would with any other credit- or debit card to pay bills, buy services and products online and in shops, buy dinners, rent cars, pay for hotels or withdraw cash.

Troy has specialty cards as well to serve the needs of the small family, as well as the large volume businesses.

The first 511 Partners in TROY will get a very special VISA CARD and become members of TROY V.I.P. CLUB with many diffrent benefits.
Â
TROY Unit Market- This is a fantastic product! Only Partners of TROY can use it to buy & sell Units. During all these years I have been in our industry this is one of the most exiting, lucrative, fair and fun products.
Â
Performance – TROY Investments was founded by 8 exceptional Scandinavian networkers that are highly successful, having created programs that earned them as much as 10-20 million dollars each over the past few years. They created several millionaires and a few multi-millionaires with those companies, too! They aslo have had successful traditional businesses, prior to getting into online projects. These 8 men are very experienced and well-known networkers, having earned their credibility by delivering on their promises. They are modern-thinkers, with a finger on the pulse of what is happening in networking today. They are also fantastic listeners, who aren’t afraid to listen to the headhunters they hire to bring in new ideas, as well as new members. They listen to the wants and needs of the members, finding ways to provide them those things. They understand the importance of SUPPORT, how important it is to MOTIVATE, both the members, and the customers, and have competitions planned that will do just that! They also know the importance of quality websites, cutting edge back office, info centre where you can download all kind of presentations in many languages and a “simple-to-use”-system for Partners to use to grow and track their business and earnings in real time, and to be able to collect those earnings quickly, easily, each week.
I can reveal that I have seen a demonstration of the back office. “It was breathtaking! It’s nice & clean, simple to use, with a lot of functions. Everything in real time – commissions promptly displayed, great statistics, the innovative SMS system, everything! The transfer of commissions to your card each week can´t can´t be more simple.”

PayPlan- There are 12 income sources, paid 20 levels deep, with compression.

*The valuta TROY trade via is the strong EURO. Like the dollar is now it means that people who are paid in dollars – not only Americans get 50% more in commission – because the strong EURO´s are converted to DOLLARS.

PayPlan – Commission Plan:
Â
1. 5 EUR – 7.60 USD (Standard), 10 Euros / 15.20 (Pro), each member placed in your structure.
2. 5 EUR – 7.60 USD per upgrade, Standard to Pro.
3. 40 EUR – 60 USD Fast Start Bonus (Standard) for your recruits.
4. 80 EUR – 160 USD Fast Start Bonus (Pro) for your recruits.
5. 40 EUR – 60 USD Fast Start Bonus upgrade from Standard to Pro.
6.

44,000 pieces of time-wasting, bandwidth eating, server clogging spam a day. That’s 1,338,363 pieces of spam in a month. And a crazy 16,060,365 spam mails in an entire year. That’s one man’s spam in UK – of the highest spam recipient. This tally from ClearMyMail shows the spam problem. It took him 2 hours to wade through the lottery, Nigerian scam and unwelcome organ enlarging solicitations.

What couldn’t I do with those 2 hours. Get my butt on the seat and get the final draft of the article out, answer my 5-year old’s interminable questions all the way to Domino’s, through dinner and back, and more such things that I avoid – all without a tenth of the eye-glazing boredom that deleting spam induces in me. And without the fear of deleting a legitimate mail while suffering from the glaze.

And it happens in organizations too. We did a survey in organizations a while ago. They were deploying firewall and anti-virus by default, but when it came to anti-spam, they weren’t overly concerning themselves with having the best solution around, sometimes none at all. But there’s more to spam than just a load of junk in our inboxes. What we see as a time-waster, is also the carrier of threats, breaching security defenses in networks. Phishing, spyware, viruses, you name it, they arrive with nerve-racking regularity. Even for the trained eye, some of these are deceiving, changing tactics so fast and coming up with novel ways to drive themselves into inboxes that by instinct we click on them before our mental alerts start kicking in. That’s what I did when pdf spam first arrived. Luckily, it had been just another pump and dump scheme.

I hate to give conclusions, sounds like so much thesis, but here I go with this one – that anti-spam is as important as firewall and anti-virus. And not just any anti-spam solution. One that gets to the spam before you do. Which means, it cannot wait for signatures. It cannot rely on content scanning. It must see the pattern of distribution. Look for one that goes beyond content. But first look for one – to add to your firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware arsenal – to begin with.

Many people today are using electronic mails (e-mails) to send and receive messages with others as it is the fastest way possible. With businesses getting their hands involved in the internet and most specifically, e-mail, our e-mails tend to receive lots of spam messages advertising everything from discount electronics to male enhancement products.

Its purpose is to get you attracted to anything they sell. It is prohibited under the Can Spam Act and is an abuse of electronic messaging systems to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages currently known as spam and its most widely known form is the e-mail spam.

Spamming cost your e-mail accounts memory space that can make you unable to receive new e-mails, due to lack of memory space. It has become a major problem for internet users.

Email and internet service providers also encounter problems and the solution that they come up of is to increase the memory space allotted for users’ e-mail so that spam will not occupy that much space. Some providers do provide web based anti spam services however, it is unable to completely eradicate the email spamming problem.

There are many anti spam software on the market that provides the ability to stop spam before it reaches your inbox. One of these is Spam Bully, one of the best anti spam software I have used.

Spam Bully is suited for new internet users who want to stop spam and phishing emails from reaching their email inbox without the technical difficulties of setting up. It is easy to use and works well to block 99% of all spam emails. The default automatic spam rules setup is pretty efficient and works well right out of the box.

Spam Bully anti spam software has an update feature that regularly updates it’s anti spam engine without user intervention. Currently, it works with any POP3 account such as outlook, fedora, mozilla and netscape. It also works with any webbased email clients such as hotmail, yahoo Mail.

We protect our computers with virus scanners and firewalls but there are many customers who do not realise what the dangers are when they don’t use mobile security on their Smartphone. Your mobile phone is open to all sorts of dangers which come from worm viruses and various other viruses which may attack a mobile phone when you are browsing the internet without mobile antivirus software.

A few years ago those who had Smartphones were considered only to be business people or technophiles, however, now Smartphones have found their way into the mobile phone mainstream. Sales for Smartphones have already risen by a healthy 16% in 2008. The reason for the fast growth is due to the new type of handsets that are now available which make mobile phones more user friendly and include such features as touch screens and cameras.

If you take into consideration that Smartphones now use very sensitive data, such as browsing histories and passwords and private emails it is very wise to look at mobile security, especially when you are accessing online banking services.

Obviously due to their increased use, Smartphones are also becoming increasingly vulnerable to data theft and malicious software applications. Although malware infections, which are directly targeting mobile phones, are still a rarity so far there are 500 viruses that have been identified to date and this number is growing.

If you don’t have mobile antivirus on your phone you can end up having your files completely wiped or additional charges being added from misuse.

UMA Global has some of the best mobile security available for a range of mobile phones and software applications. With antivirus mobile security added to your mobile you can surf the internet with complete protection.
